'Twas the Month Before Concerts ...
By Rick Hoskins, tenor
I was inspired by our upcoming concert set to adapt the famous seasonal poem to prompt my friends and family to join me there. I was asked to share this more broadly - and hope to see you there, too! (Special nod to Dr. Seuss and his singing Whos, shown above)
’Twas the month before Christmas, and all through the Bay,
The pumpkins were composted, the leaves swept away.
The goblins had vanished, the turkeys still near,
When voices of joy began filling the air.
Pacific Edge Voices — the Bay’s choral delight,
Has sung through the decades with power and light.
But this year’s more special, a season to start,
With a brand-new director and music from the heart.
Dr. Nicolás Dosman — remember that name!
He’s taken our choir to a whole new acclaim.
After years of direction both noble and grand,
He’s given our sound a new shimmering brand.
The notes feel like velvet, the harmonies soar,
Each carol familiar, yet richer than before.
And the halls where we’ll sing — oh, the magic they hold,
Cathedrals of echo, both hallowed and bold.
So gather your friends, bring your holiday cheer,
Come bask in the glow of this musical year.
You’ll see many friends in our musical crew,
And perhaps sing a chorus — there’s room just for you.
So click for your tickets, don’t wait or delay,
They’re selling quite fast — come and join us one day.
For nothing says holidays quite like our song,
A moment of peace in a world gone so wrong.
